For the open-air markets operating within the boundaries of the Municipalities in the Attica Region, decisions are made by the regional Deputy Governors. Specifically, they decide on the establishment, abolition, relocation, expansion, and spatial planning of the open-air markets, in accordance with paragraph 2 of Article 27 of Law 4849/2021 (A’207).
According to Article 13 of Law 4849/2021 (A’207), new vendor licenses for organized outdoor markets, along with their corresponding positions, are granted following the issuance of a public announcement by the competent authority. These licenses are granted based on priority and in accordance with the criteria set out in Article 16. When the new public announcement is issued, a notice will be published.
The operating hours of farmer’s markets are set as follows, except in exceptional cases and circumstances (e.g., extreme weather conditions): a) Vendor arrival time (for both professional vendors and producers): 6:00-8:00 AM b) Product selling hours: 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM c) Vendor departure time (for both professional vendors and producers): 3:30-4:30 PM

Starting Monday, April 1, 2024, all vendors at farmers’ markets will be required to have POS terminals and accept card payments. Vendors who refuse to accept card payments or have not installed POS systems will face fines of up to 1,500 euros.
Yes, there is a charge to the POS holder depending on the bank they work with. For transactions made via POS up to 10 euros, the commission rate is 0.5%.
